COVID-19 India: 5 more Volunteers put on Trials for Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine.

Pharmaceutical companies in India and World are in continuous effort on the development of vaccines for COVID-19 and its trials. India has put 5 candidates for Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine trials in Pune. The world has crossed 24 million in the number of COVID-19 cases. India can overtake Brazil in the coming 2 weeks if the current pace is continued to be.

Here, all the latest developments on the COVID-19 vaccine in India.

  • Five more volunteers have been inoculated with Oxford’s CPVID-19 vaccine in Pune city. This is a 2nd trial phase in the search for an antidote against coronavirus infection. Volunteers are in Bharti Vidyapeeth’s Medical College and Hospital in Pune city, a senior doctor said.
  • Premas Biotech has said its vaccine candidates have shown positive test results inducing a neutralizing immune response in animal studies. This company is in talks with Indian regulations for conducting human trials as a next step, premise biotech said.
  • Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer by volume, selected the cities in India to conduct phase 2nd trials of Oxfords’ COVID-19 vaccine for 1600 candidates.
  • Covaxin, as one of three vaccine candidates against COVID-19, being developed in India, approved for Skin trials by Central Drugs Standard Council Organisation (CDSCO).

A total of 26 vaccine candidates are being developed, according to WHO.

On seeing the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases, in India, there is a need to focus on fatality rates in districts and rural areas in India.
